Adarsh Bansal- Visual Communication

Hello guys,

I'm posting a partial solution to CEED 2015 part b problem. This is as follows-

Indian government is initiating a safety and awareness campaign for preventing accidents at
home called ‘Suraksha’ (Safety). ‘Suraksha’ aims at bringing awareness amongst citizens
regarding safety with household appliances. Support the campaign by designing a section of the
information booklet on gas cylinders. Complete the following tasks for the same.
a. Design a logo forthe campaign title ‘Suraksha’.
b. Identify four problems that users face while changing domestic gas cylinders.
Illustrate the problems in thumbnail sketches.
c. Show three different illustration styles for visually representing one of the problems
stated by you earlier. Create three thumbnail sketches to represent your ideas.
d. Design a layout of the information booklet in neat pencil sketches. Size of the
booklet is 6 x 6 inches. Depict the final illustration/s and its sequence keeping in
mind problems in comprehension as well as safety hazards involved in handling gas
cylinders. Use text minimally or preferably not at all. Select appropriate views and
representation styles to illustrate objects as well as actions.
Pay attention to the quality of visual renderings, appropriate selection of views of the object
and actions, effectiveness of presentation in minimal space, and elements and clarity in the
structure and sequencing of information.

I have covered only first two parts...

Answer to CEED 2015 by Dhananjay Pande

The image below is my rough sketch for the question no. 1 , the question was really straightforward but i got carried away with its simplicity and started sketching without going into details of the question . As you can see in the diagram , i made two terrible mistake , first i placed a kadhai instead of pressure cooker and i have a four stove burner ,instead of a two stove burner . Please pay attention ,i learnt it the hard way .

Question no.2 .

I couldn't get my head around this one , i just couldn't may be it was because of the pressure that i felt after ,my failed attempt at question 1.

Question no.3

Objects that created
1. Merry-go-round.
2. A lounging chair.
3. A soap and toothbrush holder.

Question no. 4 .

Again I couldn't crack it , so instead of mulling over it i jumped to the next question , and mind you and i never got the chance to revisit those question that i couldn't crack .

Question no.5 .

This is not my first and the final attempt , i gone through 3 rough sketches , the last one looked more or less like this , and i thought this is going to be my final sketch so i send that pic to Bhanu Sir and he told me it still looks rough .
after Bhanu Sir's input , i decided to make it look more finished .
So my point is , before finalising your sketch , make at least , 4 to 5 rough sketches very quickly , thinking inn over head will only make the process even more slower and hence time consuming , and with quick rough sketches , you will get instant feedback from your brain if something is going wrong or can be added .

NOTE : Please give me your feedback , this is my first attempt at posting something on my own , that previous post was done by Bhanu Sir on my behalf (thank you sir). [I thought the process to post your own blog was very difficult , untill i tried ].
