Shiva Aran - (sketches and designs)
Hello friends and masters!
I am Shiva Aran.
I am planning to get into car designing field. While I was searching for the regarding options I was to see about CEED(Common Entrance Exam for Design) and also I came across your 'Stuff you look' blog. I saw about the owner of this blog Mr. Bhanu Chander contributing much for the people trying for various design exams and I immediately decided to join them so as to get part in getting his contributions. Also I am confused whether CEED is surely meant for car design aspirants. If I attend CEED, can I get into car designing field i.e., can I get into good colleges say IITs offering car design course? Because my aim is to go into car designs. So I request you to suggest whether I am in a correct path or not. Also if CEED is a correct decision, then I want you to take me as your junior member, a student with you and to be with me through out my process with all your support, with hope that you will take me, and special thanks to Mr. Bhanu Chander for creating such a precious platform for people like me. Thanking you once again, and my works,
I would like you to evaluate my level and about size proportions. Also I am a beginner and I don't know much about sketching ethics. Help me get developed. Looking for your suggestions.

Answer to CEED 2015 by Dhananjay Pande
The image below is my rough sketch for the question no. 1 , the question was really straightforward but i got carried away with its simplicity and started sketching without going into details of the question . As you can see in the diagram , i made two terrible mistake , first i placed a kadhai instead of pressure cooker and i have a four stove burner ,instead of a two stove burner . Please pay attention ,i learnt it the hard way .
Question no.2 .
I couldn't get my head around this one , i just couldn't may be it was because of the pressure that i felt after ,my failed attempt at question 1.
Question no.3
Objects that created
1. Merry-go-round.
2. A lounging chair.
3. A soap and toothbrush holder.
Question no. 4 .
Again I couldn't crack it , so instead of mulling over it i jumped to the next question , and mind you and i never got the chance to revisit those question that i couldn't crack .
Question no.5 .
This is not my first and the final attempt , i gone through 3 rough sketches , the last one looked more or less like this , and i thought this is going to be my final sketch so i send that pic to Bhanu Sir and he told me it still looks rough .
after Bhanu Sir's input , i decided to make it look more finished .
So my point is , before finalising your sketch , make at least , 4 to 5 rough sketches very quickly , thinking inn over head will only make the process even more slower and hence time consuming , and with quick rough sketches , you will get instant feedback from your brain if something is going wrong or can be added .
Answers to CEED 2013 by Dhananjay Pande
Hi all,
This is Dhananjay Pande again,
In this page my response to CEED 2013 previous paper Part B (design part) has been updated along with my sketches. Please do check and comment for any suggestions or improvements.
You can get the CEED 2013 question paper here
You can also check the solution from Stuff You Look blog here
My sketch to Q1
My solution to Q2
- After welding two pieces of iron together , the mark of the welding doesn't look pleasing, it would look better with it being invisible.
- The nut bolts used to joint parts does not look good , making them invisible would look better, though that would play difficult for the engineers to repair.
- be relaxing .
- Women take time to get ready, most of it is consumed in pinning the saree pallu , so that it doesn't show, an invisible pin will save a lot of time.
- There is nothing more aggravating for a book lover , than getting his books all twisted and stained return back after borrowing it , lets make them invisible.
Please note that the question also look for humor in your answer, so I have taken more consideration of the creativity and the humor in my instances.
My solution to Q3
- The distinction between the cash counter and the waiting table counter should be well labeled.
- The white board between the mandir and the photo frame does look aesthetically pleasing, and can be seen as disrespect to the god .
- The colour combination of the cash counter and the waiting table , does not go well together , red and brown is not a good choice.
- The cold drink refrigerator seems hidden in the corner , it should placed between the two counters .
- The menu chart shouldn't have a shiny polished surface , the reflection of the light making the item obscure , a matt finish is desirable.
