One Line Story with Illustration.

Hello people. Story writing in NID DAT has 3 types -

  • Write a story looking at the given illustration.
  • Write a story with given words and genre (with or without illustration)
  • Complete a story (with illustration)
  • Write one-line story with illustration.
I tried a one-liner story. This is how it goes -
"We were heading towards our town on an Highway when we saw an old woman, asking for lift, whom we ignored turned out to be an Enchantress who cursed us for our arrogance that despite traveling forever, we would never reach our destination!"

And the Illustration -

So, How is it? Please share your views in the comment section below.

NID DAT 2014-15 Solution - Subjective - Buckets for Elderly People.

Well, Hello people. Recently, I came across a question from previous year's DAT.
The question asked us to design a bucket which is easy for elderly people to use.

Basically, to answer the question, I followed these steps -

  • Understand the present design of Buckets
  • Find out the problems with it.
  • Slowly, solve each problem with an Idea.
  • Put all the ideas together and making a draft design.
  • Finalize your design by troubleshooting any other problems which you have missed.
  1. Problem: Elderly people bend down to use a bucket because they may have back/Knee problems. They cannot lift a bucket filled with water as their arms do not k\have strength for it.
  2. Solution : The bucket must be placed at a height so that people wouldn't have to bend for reaching it. The bucket must be portable without using much strength (maybe should have wheels).
  3.  Design:  This is my design.

So, the last step is trouble shooting. I request you guys to find out any problems with the design and any additional changes. Please let me know about it in the comment section below. ☺

A solution to story writing problem asked in CEED 2014.

A solution to story writing problem asked in CEED 2014.

This is a post by another CEED aspirant Prashant Kumar Verma,

Here I am sharing one of the possible solutions to the question shown below:
The solution was originated from preparation for my very attempt to CEED. Please go through, provide alternate answers and add necessary corrections in comments if any.
Here it goes:
One evening, as Mr. and Mrs. Bajaj returned to their home after completing their work at offices they found the children standing at the door waiting for them. Both the children Sunil and Sunita were so eager to go out and play that they immediately left the house just after wishing a 'good evening' to their parents. At the same time, Mr. Bajaj's mother and sister Sonal visited the TV hall for evening tea. The mother went to prepare tea for Mr. and Mrs. Bajaj. Mr. Bajaj's father was seated on the sofa dealing with his record of previously invested shares and planning for a new investment. For him, TV was a pretty good source of market news as well as expert advice. Mrs. Bajaj and Sonal sat to relax and changed the TV channel from market news to some sort of serials. The instant Mr. Bajaj sat on the sofa a sharp and loud bark coming out of his pet dog Shadow's mouth, tore his ears and shook his head. He jumped out of sofa like a monkey. Seeing this Sonal and Mrs. Bajaj started laughing like a drain. The mother who just came back from the kitchen after instructing the cook, couldn't stop herself from laughing too. She got imbalanced and her leg hit a table with a flower pot on it placed nearby. The flower pot dropped to the ground and broke along with the father's concentration. "what happened ?" the father asked with standing ears. All the three ladies couldn't respond and laughed until the prepared tea turns cold.

Adarsh Bansal- Visual Communication

Hello guys,

I'm posting a partial solution to CEED 2015 part b problem. This is as follows-

Indian government is initiating a safety and awareness campaign for preventing accidents at
home called ‘Suraksha’ (Safety). ‘Suraksha’ aims at bringing awareness amongst citizens
regarding safety with household appliances. Support the campaign by designing a section of the
information booklet on gas cylinders. Complete the following tasks for the same.
a. Design a logo forthe campaign title ‘Suraksha’.
b. Identify four problems that users face while changing domestic gas cylinders.
Illustrate the problems in thumbnail sketches.
c. Show three different illustration styles for visually representing one of the problems
stated by you earlier. Create three thumbnail sketches to represent your ideas.
d. Design a layout of the information booklet in neat pencil sketches. Size of the
booklet is 6 x 6 inches. Depict the final illustration/s and its sequence keeping in
mind problems in comprehension as well as safety hazards involved in handling gas
cylinders. Use text minimally or preferably not at all. Select appropriate views and
representation styles to illustrate objects as well as actions.
Pay attention to the quality of visual renderings, appropriate selection of views of the object
and actions, effectiveness of presentation in minimal space, and elements and clarity in the
structure and sequencing of information.

I have covered only first two parts...
